Gunpowder Falls State Park is a Maryland state park comprising several non-contiguous recreational areas in northeastern Baltimore County and western Harford County. It is primarily made up of the stream valleys of the Big and Little Gunpowder Falls and the Gunpowder River. The park has over 100 miles of trails with natural features ranging from tidal marshes to rugged interior slopes. Park areas can be found off various exits from I-83, I-695, and I-95. ==Activities and amenities== The park's wide ranging terrains provide facilities for picnicking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, tubing, canoeing and kayaking, tide-water fishing and crabbing, fly fishing,〔 and hunting among other activities. ;Park areas *Hereford Area: Located on the Prettyboy Reservoir, the Hereford section of the park is an official wildlands area with hiking and horseback trails, kayaking and canoeing, and trout fishing.〔 Accommodations are offered at the Mill Pond Cottage.〔 *Sweet Air Area: The area offers of multi-use trails along the Little Gunpowder Falls on the border between Baltimore and Harford counties.〔 *Torrey C. Brown Trail: The trail extends north from Ashland (near Cockeysville) to the Pennsylvania state line. The Sparks Bank Nature Center is located along the trail in Sparks, Maryland, and has interpretive displays and family activities.〔 *Central Area: The area borders the Big and Little Gunpowder Falls, features multi-use trails, fishing, and river paddling.
